Dunstan Breed & Grow is a low-starch, high-fibre pellet formulated to provide quality nutrition to the pregnant and lactating mare and young growing horse.

The low-starch and quality fibre ingredients (lucerne chaff, soya hulls, and meadow hay) serve two key purposes: to benefit sound growth of the young horse, and to aid good digestive health. A low-starch feed helps minimise the negative effect of insulin on joint and cartilage development. The low-starch, high-fibre composition also helps ensure good hindgut microflora activity and reduces the likelihood of digestive upsets associated with high-starch or low-fibre diets.

A comprehensive mineral and vitamin supplement is added, with minerals included in their organic form — including selenium from selenium yeast — for improved safety and bioavailability. A balanced inclusion of calcium and phosphorus promotes sound bone and joint development.

In the mare’s last trimester of pregnancy, adequate mineral supplementation is of key importance for foetal development and skeletal health of the subsequent foal. When fed at the recommended intakes, Dunstan Breed & Grow will provide the necessary intake of these key nutrients.

During lactation, the mare has a significant increase in energy demands. Dunstan Breed & Grow is highly palatable and, being low in starch and high in fibre, provides a very safe way to meet the high energy requirements of the lactating mare.

The addition of a live yeast further aids digestion and assists in maintaining a more optimal hindgut. Quality protein ingredients ensure good amino acid status, which is of key importance in all breeding horses. Includes mannan oligosaccharide and aluminosilicate clay to assist in managing seasonal pasture challenges.
