For the hanging pendants just unscrew the top, take the plug out, put the wooden lid back on, tip upside down for 10 seconds and hang it up.  Voila, away you go...

For the Clip In one take off wooden top, remove the plug, replace the top and poke the stick in the hole, hold upside down for 5-10 seconds and clip into your vent.  Yummy...
