When To Dose
Mud & Rain is professionally formulated to support a normal immune response in horses to conditions caused by Dermatophilus congolensis bacteria. For horses prone to conditions such as greasy heel, mud fever and rain scald/rot, start preventative dosing at the onset of the rainy season. Dosing can also start as soon as symptoms appear. This product can be added to the water trough to dose multiple animals.
How To Dose
If symptoms have appeared, dose for 2-3 weeks or until healing is complete and the scabs have fallen off leaving clear healthy skin underneath. As a preventative, start dosing once a week as soon as the rainy season starts. Keep an eye on your horse’s legs and at the first sign of any trouble, increase dosing to twice daily for 7-10 days to return the skin to its normal healthy state. Reducing dose frequency when symptoms aren’t present will avoid desensitisation to this remedy.
90ml Pump Bottle
Give 2 pumps into the mouth or onto a treat or feed twice a day for 2-3 weeks. Keep dosing twice daily until symptoms are gone, then reduce to once a week for maintenance.
90 ml Pump Bottle = 230 doses (2 pumps per dose).
Bottles are food grade aluminium with a hygienic serum pump lid and over cap. Great for dosing on the go.
Jerry Can Dosing
Water Trough – add 25mls - one capful or 1 Jerry Can pump - of remedy into the water trough every second day. Dose volume is calculated for a 500-litre water trough
Feed – add 12mls - ½ capful or ½ a Jerry Can pump (12ml) - on to feed twice daily.
Dose until symptoms are gone, then reduce to once a week for maintenance.
1 litre = 80 days continuous cover via water troughs (dosing every second day) or 40 days dosing on feed (twice daily).

Scientific tests have shown that topical zinc oxide can increase the rate of wound healing, increase resistant to infection and decrease rates of deterioration.
Another important aspect to wound healing is to keep a wound moist. Premature drying will slow down healing as it blocks the white blood cells from working. The Aqueous base of Equifix-TTO is ideal to keep moisture on the wound and light enough not to block the healing process. (Using a thick cream with a petroleum or paraffin base will slow healing and confuse the process as the body will see it as something to remove).
Note: Tea Tree Oil in its pure form, as oil, is not suitable for use on animals because if ingested it may be toxic. However, as a percentage in an aqueous base is suitable and safe.
In summary: during wound healing, it is important to resolve inflammation and initiate re-epithelization, repel infection and retain a moist environment. Equifix-TTO provides the active ingredients to promote safe and efficient healing.

Equiderm is a waterproof sulphur based cream to aid with healing and to provide a barrier coating between skin and mud and air. Especially useful for mudfever (also know as equine dermatitis, rain scald scratches or greasy heel).
Comes in a handy pouch, ideal to have on hand in your tack room or grooming box.
Directions for use: Clean and dry affected area, gently remove scabs then apply a light coating once daily. If conndition persists, seek veterinary advice.

EquineCare Probiotic Topical Spray 500ml & 1L
EquineCare Probiotic is a topical spray for minor bacterial and fungal skin conditions caused by mud fever and rain scald. The spray aids treatment by introducing billions of beneficial microbes that outcompete the pathogens causing the condition. It needs to be sprayed daily (if possible) until the infection is cleared.
We recommend the 500ml if treating a smaller fungal or bacterial infection or thrush.
We recommend the 1-litre size for minor mud fever, larger areas of rain scald or if treating more than one animal.

Function
Keratex Mud Shield Powder is designed to assist the horse’s natural defenses against skin abnormalities.
How It Works
Many horseowners attempt to counter the problems of dermatological abnormalities by applying a grease or salve to the affected area. But the micro-organisms which cause the problem are anaerobes: they cannot survive in the presence of oxygen, and any greasy treatment may actually make the problem worse. Keratex Mud Shield Powder deals with this by using finely powdered sulphur – an age old remedy for countering bacteria and fungi – in a mixture with aluminium stearate. This aluminium end of this long molecule grasps onto the nitrogen of the keratin in the skin of the leg, and the stearate end of the molecule is strongly water-repellent, drying the skin and keeping it dry in wet conditions.
Application
Keratex Mud Shield Powder is applied by sprinkling onto your hand and applying it to the horse’s clean, dry leg, making sure a good covering is achieved and the powder has reached the skin.
