What is Turmericle?

Turmericle is a unique powdered blend of well researched nutraceutical herbs including two varieties of turmeric, and black pepper. Combined with powdered coconut oil, this easy to feed powder is suitable for horses, and dogs.

About the Ingredients

Turmeric

Turmericle contains a blend of two different species of turmeric to optimise the benefits they both offer. One form, Curcuma longa, is the traditional type of turmeric commonly used in cooking, foodstuffs, cosmetics and medicine. Curcuma xanthorrhiza, has been used as a traditional medicinal plant in some tropical countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia. It contains the xanthorrhizal oil which confers unusual benefits.

PowerStance® powdered coconut oil

PowerStance is powdered coconut oil designed to make feeding oil easy. Coconut oil contains high levels of medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) which provide the body with a readily available source of lauric acid,. The benefits of supplementing animals with coconut oil may include improved digestive health, enhanced coat and skin condition. Coconut oil is absorbed direclly into the portal blood, and therefore is metabolised faster than other oils.

Ground Black Pepper

Curcumin is treated as a foreign substance by the liver. It is therefore rapidly metabolised and excreted.  Piperine in black pepper blocks curcumin excretion by the liver and increases curcumin bioavailability.  Piperine activity is reduced in sunlight.  Turmericle must be stored in a sealed container to maintain the efficacy of the back pepper.

Calcium and magnesium are 2 of the 5 major electrolytes present in blood and body fluids. Blood levels of these vital minerals need to be kept at certain levels for life to continue.

When the diet fails to supply adequate levels, the blood is forced to borrow them from other tissues. Calcium is released from the skeleton and magnesium is borrowed from muscle tissue including the heart.

How does congestion occur?

Airways in horses become congested in response to airborne particles such as dust, pollen and moulds.

It is crucial to free the airway of inhaled particulates and also to ward of the potential for secondary bacterial infections.

Blocked or congested airways not only cause distress but can, in turn, cause chronic or acute conditions such as heaves to equine pneumonia.

Mucous can also be triggered in response to an allergen.

This is the bodies attempt to capture the particles where the body can then remove.

However, when congestion is thick it may need the help of a product like Expel to assist in removal.

It is best practise to reduce the mucus and take practical steps to reduce allergens.

In some cases, horses also require Expel with coughs and colds, freeing mucus from the airway.

Fermented soyabean meal (non GMO) using a specific bacteria strain. Lactobacillus delbrueckii ssp lactis Rosell 187.

Recommended Dose Rate

5g per 100kg liveweight

Horses: 25 g/horse/day (500kg horse). This can be doubled at times of high stress for a period of 30 days or in combination with veterinary anti-ulcer medication.

Foals: 12.5 g/foal/day (250kg foal) for 30 days at weaning.

Top dress or mix into feed daily.

EquiShield™ is a natural product comprising mannan oligosaccharide, modified glucomannans (from yeast cell wall), magnesium, chromium, Orego-Stim® and an anti-oxidant. EquiShield™ maybe incorporated into the diet as part of the nutrional programme set up to support horses and ponies that are prone to equine metabolic conditions or immune system dysfunctions. Animals consuming EquiShield™ may also benefit from a course of ImmuBoost®or EquiYeast™ to help improve digestive function.

Active Ingredients

Chromium (organic), magnesium (both inorganic and organic), mannan oligosaccharide, modified glucomannans, Orego-Stim® and vitamin E.

Recommended Dose Rate

High dose 10g per 100 kg: Horse (500 kg) = 50g, Pony (250 kg) = 25g.

Normal dose 5g per 100kg: Horse (500kg) = 25g, Pony (250kg) = 12.5g.

One level 15ml scoop is approximately 10g.

Directions for Use

Administer to horses by mixing with supplementary feed. Begin with the high dose, and continue for 10 days or while symptoms persist. Following this, the dose can be reduced to the normal rate depending on the individual horse’s response. For best results, split the daily dose into morning and evening feeds.

Nutritech EquiGuard™ Plus

A mineral supplement for addition to horse feeds to support muscle function (as a mineral source) and help maintain immune function. Also contains a mycotoxin binder (Meriden Fusion DYAD™) to aid in the management of negative effects of feed borne mycotoxins.

EquiGuard™ Plus provides an organic form of magnesium as a mineral source which is more readily available to the horse and faster acting. Vitamin E and chromium help to maintain the horses’ immune system and support muscle function.

The rate of inclusion would be dependent upon the severity of the mycotoxin present in the feed in which EquiGuard™ Plus is to be mixed.

Nutritech EquiCopper

EquiCopper is an organic copper supplement to aid in the prevention and treatment of copper deficiencies in horses. Symptoms of copper deficiency include anaemia, poor growth, hair colour change and weight loss. Organic copper (copper bound to amino acid) has been found to have a much greater bio-availability for horses and will be a more effective copper supplement, especially in areas with high sulphur, molybdenum or iron levels, where copper deficiencies are common.

Sodium is the main electrolyte found in the blood and the fluid surrounding cells. If sodium levels are low, the blood won't hold enough water. 

This causes the adrenal gland to release the hormone aldosterone, which tells the kidneys: "Don't let any sodium leave the body!" When the kidneys hold on to sodium, they excrete potassium in its place, creating an imbalance. Inadequate sodium intake can promote or aggravate conditions such as anhydrosis (lack of or inadequate sweating), tying up (a muscular disorder resulting in stiff and/or trembling muscles after exertion) and a rapid heart rate.  

It can also influence the horse to avoid drinking water as the body seeks to keep from flushing away sodium. (And inadequate water consumption is always a risk factor for impaction colic).

FEEDING GUIDELINES:
Introduce feed to calves in clean troughs from 4 days of age.

Feed out fresh each day and provide calves with access to clean dry hay or straw.

As NRM Little Pig Pellets are a complete feed, the provision of other supplements should be limited as this may reduce growth rates.

Piglets Creep feed with NRM Little Pig Tucker while providing sow milk or milk replacer until 7 – 8 weeks of age.

Growing Pigs Ad-lib for maximum growth. Some feed restriction may be necessary at older ages for minimise fat deposition.

Lactating Sows Feed from 5kg at farrowing building up to 8 – 9kg per sow per day depending on body weight, litter size and environmental temperature/conditions.

Kunekune Pigs

For Lactating Sows: Feed 1 to 2kg plus 0.25kg per piglet per day while allowing access to pasture or other fibre.

For growing pigs up to 4 months of age: Feed up to 0.5kg per pig per day depending on required weight gain and pasture quality and availability.
