Ultra Low GI is a feed that offers energy to your horse in a different form to most other feeds; it is one of the best of the calming feeds for horses in the marketplace.

Rather than using oats or barley to provide energy, Ultra Low GI feed uses Soya Hulls. The effect of a particular feed on blood sugar levels is called the Glycemic Index. Oats have a Glycemic Index (GI) of 100 which is deemed to be very high; Soya Hulls in contrast have a GI of 7 so no comparison.

Also an excellent source of protein and offering some secondary energy value and extremely palatable to the horse are micronized lupins. Treated in the same way as linseed to make the nutritional content accessible to the horses digestive system, the process of micronisation ensures good digestibility and also palatability thereby reducing the risk of conditions associated with poor digestibility such as laminitis, acidosis and colic.

Because Fiskens feeds contain no preservatives, we recommend they are consumed within 6 weeks of the manufacture date, and preferably 4 weeks in warm weather. See date on side of bag.
