This combination of ingredients is scientifically proven to nourish cartilage and provide hydration. Glucosamine and Chondroitin known as Glycosaminoglycans, the substances made naturally by the body to maintain healthy joints.
Providing GLA’s helps for ongoing joint repair and maintenance in healthy joints.
Science shows the body requires more after trauma, which includes the vigour of joint stress, wear and tear, and also as the horse begins to age.
Glucosamine Sulphate and Chondroitin Sulphate also work synergistically together to promote a more viscous synovial fluid, the lubricant that provides the frictionless surface between cartilage and bone.
Encouraging healthy cartilage and synovial fluid, in turn ensures healthy joint support.
Understanding joint care and why it is necessary:
Equine joints suffer wear and tear from movement. However, un- natural mechanical forces such as galloping and jumping carrying a rider impact joints much more.
The stresses and strains from poor conformation or working on uneven or hard surfaces together with the extra exertion required on the joints to perform and carry a rider, gradually wears away cartilage, narrowing the joint space to eventually bone on bone results, also known as osteoarthritis.
This is a natural process with aging and often seen in older or stiff horses, but now crucial to maintain athletic performance and a sound competition horse.
The cartilage between joints is therefore very important as this is what cushions the bone ends and prevents these from touching. It is these structures that must be kept healthy to maintain healthy joints.
The ingredients in this potent formula for horses consists of Green lipped mussel of the highest grade and purity to support joint health and reduce inflammatory reaction within the joint capsule.
The added Green lipped mussel together with the additional Chondroitin in this formula gives extra joint nutrition by raising natural Chondroitin and Glucosamine levels and also offering omega 3, a natural anti-inflammatory.
Why use Hydra-flex Active Joint supplement for horses?
In this joint supplement for horses we include ingredients with anti-inflammatory support as this is beneficial to the equine joint by preventing damage by the body’s own enzymes which attack cartilage when the area experiences trauma, inflammation, pain or discomfort. It is always important to control inflammation in the equine joint and to also provide more comfort to the horse. The performance horse is an athlete so maintaining joint health is priority in caring for your horse, as a prevention and also to support and provide comfort to joints.
This unique fortified formula, in addition contains Vitamin C in its stabilized ascorbate form, to provide antioxidant properties that help to support joint as well as muscle health. Vitamin C neutralizes free radicals (that cause oxidative damage) and has a role in supporting healthy cartilage and the manufacture of collagen cells. This is further enriched with Chondroitin Sulphate, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic acid or HA) and Glucosamine Sulphate supplying your equine all the ingredients for healthy cartilage and synovial fluid. Perfect for the performance horse.
**Hydraflex Active joint supplement for horses uses an exceptionally high grade of green lipped mussel powder to preserve the unique anti-inflammatory properties.

How Hydra-flex CARE offers the best supplement for stiff horses:
A lack of joint lubricant combined with general wear and tear results in poor cartilage health. This causes remodelling, bone spurs and degenerative joint disease in horses.
When cartilage begins to deteriorate, movement becomes stiff with joints become inflamed and sore. Eventually, this friction results in the joint ends eroding away to the point where cartilage disappears and the joint ends touch. This bone on bone is also known as osteoarthritis causing the animal pain, inflammation and reduced quality of life.
Hydra-flex CARE the best supplement for stiff horses is a premium specialised supplement for aging joints and joint stiffness. It can also be used as a preventative to maintain great joint health. Hydra-flex Care contains high strength ingredients to encourage healthy cartilage and synovial fluid as well as providing comfort and ease to movement. Hydra-flex contains 100 % active ingredients and is free of fillers.
Benefits of Hydra-flex CARE:
Scientifically proven ingredients and levels:
Glucosamine benefits at oral administration of 10,000 or more is demonstrated to be an integral part of helping to strengthen, maintain and protect cartilage (ref: American Journal of Veterinary Research Medicine, 2008). It also demonstrated in a study to reduce inflammation inside the joint capsule on young horses after joint trauma. (ref: Journal of Animal Health 2016, 94: 3294-3302).
MSM benefits supports muscular, skeletal and connective tissues as well as controls inflammation in the body. High levels of MSM at a rate of 20 grams daily was demonstrated in clinical assessments to effectively reduce inflammation in horses. The pathway is not entirely known but it is thought sulphur lowers inflammation be lending a donor (Sulphur) molecule that is used in the pathways for internal reactions. MSM also has a solvent action enhancing the effect of substances.
Hyaluronic acid benefits also known as HA is a primary component of the synovial fluid providing a slip surface. This “slip” helps to lessen friction on cartilage surfaces and with its very hygroscopic properties, it binds many times its on weight in water also keeping the cartilage hydrated and healthy. Cartilage bathes in the joint capsule and it is here where it absorbs its nutrition from the body.
High molecular weight hyaluronic acid is the only form that should be used for oral consumption in horses. This form is superior to low molecular weight HA as cell receptors recognise this as being similar to native HA (the HA the body naturally manufactures). This is proven by science to be the best absorbed and as a result is the hyaluronic acid of choice in equine joint supplements (ref: Journal of applied Nutrition, volume 54, 1, 2004), Therefore, high molecular weight HA is the only hyaluronic acid that provides proven joint benefits. Beware of low molecular weight hyaluronic acids, as this is inferior and cannot be regarded to provide the same joint benefits.
Collagen Peptides benefits proven by science to be the most absorbable form of collagen encouraging healthy bone, cartilage, skin, tendons and ligaments and repair.
Clinical studies have been impressive showing regeneration of damaged cartilage cells.
As collagen is lost when the body ages this has becomes an important component in maintaining joint as well as connective tissue health.
Devils claw benefits a highly concentrated form offers high potency at a low dose for more protection of joints.
Scientific studies show devils claw extract to be highly effective as an anti-inflammatory and relief ingredient by blocking the pain mediators that cause and initiate sore, inflamed joints.
Inflammation is damaging and therefore it is important this is controlled.
The process of inflammation releases enzymes which weaken tissue and cartilage, accelerating damage to cells and pain and swelling.
Why use Hydra-flex Care the best supplement for stiff horses?
Hydra-flex Care the best supplement for stiff horses! contains a potent blend of ingredients to help nourish joints and increase the comfort and flexion in your horse.
Much like us horses become stiff and arthritic as they age from either a joint trauma or due to wear and tear over time.
It is important for their quality of life to provide comfort to your horse to keep them active and happy.
MSM supplement for horses and dogs to help reduce inflammation in muscles and joints.
Supports joint health, cartilage, connective tissue, skin, coat and hoof quality.
MSM provides a natural antioxidant for healthy movement and maintaining health in both horses and dogs.
This MSM supplement for horses and dogs offers an ultra-pure source of bioavailable, organic sulphur. MSM in a highly pure form offers a naturally occurring source of sulphur to support healthy muscles, joints and connective tissues of all horses and dogs.
Why sulphur is important
In nature, soil microorganisms convert sulphur compounds into sulphates which plants absorb to manufacture sulphur essential amino acids such as methionine, cystine and cysteine.
These sulphur bonds are found in connective tissues which provide structure and strength and are essential for healthy hooves, hair, as well as tendons and ligaments.
How dose MSM work in the body and what are the benefits?
MSM benefits the body by lending sulphur to complete numerous (some 300) internal chemical reactions in order to naturally support health where it has been proven to help with inflammatory conditions.
Therefore, is useful to reduce joint inflammation associated with trauma, injury or degeneration (osteoarthritis).
Animals such as dogs and horses where joints have become stiff also benefit from daily supplementation.
What is the dose of pure Methyl Sulphonyl Methane (MSM)?
Daily dose for horses of 500 Kg bodyweight:
6-12 grams for ease of movement or for other minor inflammatory conditions
20 grams may be used for inflammation, but as a short-term measure before the dose is decreased
Daily dose for dogs of 25 Kg bodyweight:
1 – 3 pinches mixed with food, high dose 6 pinches.
What is the MSM dose for horses with arthritis?
Clinical studies show a higher dose of up to 20 grams (per 500 Kg) administered to horses improved lameness scores and also showed no change in blood chemistry.
However, this later dose would be recommended as a short-term measure only, due to MSM being a nutrient and where no nutrient should be used excessively in the diet.
But at the recommended dose MSM can improve healthy function and support muscle and joint health by helping to also reduce inflammation.
Should I use MSM and Glucosamine together?
MSM and Glucosamine provide further benefits when combined to provide the nutritional blocks for healthy joint cartilage and synovial fluids, together having a synergistic effect for maintaining healthy function and reduce inflammation.

Research also shows that adding biotin back to the diet can drastically improve hoof health.
Research shows results begin to show in 6 weeks of feeding and should be continued for horses with a history of poor hoof quality.
Biotin is recommended where the diet is generally good (contains adequate protein, fibre and other vitamins and minerals).
By adding biotin, you are putting back what the horse is not making naturally.

This contains the highest levels of salicin, a substance which is also found in the leaves, but the bark is the most potent source.
Salicin is what provides inflammation and pain relief.
This remarkable finding from nature was also the basis of “Aspirin” in modern day medicine.
Why willow should be a fine powder:
Willow should be ground fine and not resemble chunky or gritty pieces.
The fineness of the powder ensures the largest surface for absorption by the body.
When finely ground it should be kept fresh in an airtight pack.
Once opened it is then ready to administer into feed.
What dose of Willow should i give my horse ?
A daily suggested dose for a 500 Kg horse is 30 grams.
If the horse is experiencing some inflammatory issues a higher dose may be more effective such as 60 grams or up to 120 grams daily.
Being a natural remedy for horses the dose can be variable. Ideally start with the lower dose and increase if need.
