Equine America Super So Kalm Powder 1KG
Horses are fright and flight animals, and can be prone to excitability and nervousness in unfamiliar surroundings (such as a new competition or training venue), which can cause them to lose concentration and focus.
Super So-Kalm powder provides three key micronutrients to help the horse to maintain a calm outlook and concentrate on his work.
Magnesium – plays many important roles in the body, including muscle function, and is a key co-factor in enzymes which are important in nerve transmission. A lack of magnesium in the diet can result in neuro-muscular excitability.
Calcium – interacts closely with magnesium and also plays important roles in maintaining correct muscle and nerve function
Vitamin B1 (thiamine) – plays a key role in nerve impulse transmission, as well as in energy production.
Super So-Kalm also provides tryptophan, a key amino acid which can be converted in the horse’s liver to produce the important B vitamin niacin.
1kg – 33 day supply

Horses are naturally fright and flight animals and can be prone to excitability and nervousness in unfamiliar surroundings (such as competition or new training venue) which can lead to spookiness and cause them to lose concentration and focus with undesirable behaviour.
Super So Kalm Paste provides targeted nutrition with 5 key ingredients to support the horse in managing these stress responses and supporting calm behaviour.
Magnesium is a vital micromineral and plays an important role in nerve function and muscle contraction, as well as its other jobs around the body.
A lack of magnesium in the diet can result in neuro-muscular excitability and increase in nervous behaviour.
Calcium works closely with Magnesium and also is key to maintaining correct muscle and nerve function.
Vitamin B1 (thiamine) is important for nerve impulse transmission and cellular energy production
L-Tryptophan is an essential amino acid in the horse’s diet that is required for the production of the important hormone serotonin, which is associated with mood and pleasure.
L-tryptophan is included in Super So Kalm at a safe level to support the daily requirement, particularly in those sharp or anxious horses that are likely to be receiving minimal concentrates, and consequently may be receiving sub-optimal levels of this key amino acid.
Chamomile is a natural plant that has been used for centuries for its soothing and calming properties.

Horses are designed to trickle feed – grazing for up to 16 hours a day. This means that they need to constantly secrete acid to help digest this almost continual source of food entering their stomach. A grazing horse will also produce up to 9 gallons of saliva a day which as well as lubricating the food, also acts to help maintain a healthy gastric pH.
Furthermore, the physical presence of food in the stomach acts as a fibrous “mat” or barrier to support gastric health.
The horse has a small stomach, and food does not stay in there for very long, so even short periods during the day without access to forage should be minimised.
Providing a small amount of forage, such as a handful of chaff, prior to exercise will also support gastric health and comfort.
There are a number of additional management tips which may also help support gastric health:
- Plan yard and field regimes to avoid stressors such as bullying or excessive activity near the stable.
- Avoid high starch feeds and instead use a forage-based regime with digestible fibre sources and oil to provide additional energy.
- Try to provide periods of turnout or hand-grazing if possible, to enable the horse to benefit from antioxidants in fresh green forage.
- Plan training and competition schedules carefully, especially where long-distance travel may result in restricted forage intake.
- Equine America ULS-gard Solution has been formulated using carefully selected ingredients to help maintain gastric health and comfort including:
Calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate help to support a healthy gut pH.
Lecithin - a special type of fat that helps to support healthy stomach lining cells.
Pectins, Marshmallow root and Liquorice - to help produce mucilage to help support the unprotected upper portion of the stomach.
Seaweed Gel extract - high molecular weight extract, which swells to many times its original size, forming a protective 'raft' in the stomach, helping to prevent acid splashing.
Aloe Vera and Glycine - to help support the gastric mucosa (lining of the stomach).
Prebiotics - from chicory, to help support a healthy gastric microbiome.

Equine Athlete B-Boost Paste
B group vitamins are essential for the conversion of chemical energy that occurs within the muscle fibres. Under grazing conditions, the daily requirement of B Vitamins is produced by the micro-organisms in the large intestine. High grain intake lowers the intestinal PH with a resultant drop in vitamin B production.
A diet low in B Vitamins has shown to have an effect on athletic performance. Human studies have shown that when athletes were restricted to less than half of their daily requirement for vitamins B1, B2 & B6, a significant drop in performance occurred. Similar studies in equine athletes have shown that supplementing with vitamin B1 prior to competition improved performance by reducing the accumulation of lactic acid in the muscles.Horses in training benefit from B Vitamin supplementation for several reasons;
1) The production of ATP increases with exercise, therefore so does the requirement for B vitamins.
2) Digestion of high grain diets leads to a fall in the pH of the large intestine, which in turn alters the microflora population. The result is a net decrease in B vitamin production.
3) Studies have shown that supplementing Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) in the diet has the effect of reducing post exercise lactic acid levels.
B Boost paste contains high levels of all the essential B group vitamins in one single oral dose syringe. It also contains Betaine, which is converted to dimethylglycine in the liver. DMG reduces lactic acid build-up during strenuous exercise.
B Boost contains no prohibited substances so is safe to use prior to competition and should be administered 12 to 24 hours prior to competition, or on a regular basis for poor appetite, or to assist recovery after sickness. Also assists recovery from traveling long distances.
Daily dose rates: Full 30ml syringe when required
Equine Athlete Quicklyte Paste ea
- Equine Athlete QUICKLYTE PASTE Contains electrolytes & chelated minerals for fast replacement of loss from sweat. Ideal for pre & post race or competition
Quick-lyte paste is a combination of electrolytes and chelated minerals formulated in a single dose syringe. One 30ml dose syringe replaces the electrolytes lost in 2 litres of sweat. Because the electrolytes in Quick-lyte are present in a highly absorbable form, they are rapidly absorbed from the horse’s stomach. Quick-lyte uses a patented carrier that ensures the stability of the electrolytes and minerals during storage and also gives the product its free-flow properties that make it easy to use. After taking Quick-lyte, horses have a strong desire to drink so it is important that fresh drinking water is made available. This makes Quick-lyte ideal to use before and after long float trips. How often do you hear of horses who won’t drink when they travel away from home? Quicklyte will trigger a response to drink and often then to eat.
VetPro Equine Athletes Muscle Max
Muscle Max is a feed supplement formulated to maximise the efficiency of muscle metabolism. It does this in two ways, by improving lean muscle mass and by reducing the effects of post exercise muscle fatigue. A large part of the daily energy requirement of the equine athlete is used by the skeletal muscles to power the contractions that give the horse its attributes of speed, endurance and strength.
The energy from feed is stockpiled in the muscles in the form of glycogen. Through a chain of biochemical reactions within the muscle cells, the glycogen is oxidised to release Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) the chemical energy source used to power the muscle cells. The oxidation process requires large amounts of oxygen, hence the need for an efficient blood supply.
The waste products from this energy burning process include water, carbon dioxide, ammonia, lactic acid and free radicals, all of which have the potential to reduce muscular efficiency. Free radicals can cause serious damage to the muscle cell membrane. It is these free radicals, in conjunction with the waste ammonia and lactic acid, that many equine sport scientists believe are responsible for muscle fatigue and post exercise muscle soreness.
Antioxidants are substances that have the ability to inactivate the free radicals within the cell. There are many nutritional antioxidants, mostly found in plants. Muscle-Max is an antioxidant supplement that contains stabilised rice-bran. Rice bran is a rich source of glycerides, free fatty acids, phospholipids and glycolipids. Its principle antioxidants are the tocopherals, tocotrienols and gamma oryzanol, as well as inositol, phytic acid and choline. Vitamin E is one of the Tocopherols found in Muscle-Max, but it is the tocotrienols that are 50 times more potent than Vitamin E, that makes rice branl such a potent antioxidant formulation.
Gamma Oryzanol is a natural component of rice bran and as well as acting as an antioxidant, it has also been shown to reduce muscle fatigue and improve appetite.
Muscle Max also contains chromium picolinate, which is is not an antioxidant but is an active chromium salt used as a natural nutritional supplement. Supplementing horses with low levels ensures sufficient chromium is available to the horse to ensure it can maintain muscle homeostasis.
In summary Muscle-Max combines the antioxidant properties of stabilised rice bran and along with chromium picolinate helps to reduce muscle fatigue and post exercise muscle damage. It is a 100% natural product that can be used right up to and during competition. It is formulated with an apple flavour that horses find palatable.

The unique blend of ingredients includes:
Collagen – one of the most abundant proteins in the body, and provides the structural framework for cartilage, to help give it strength and elasticity. We are proud to confirm that we use a sustainable and ethical source of marine collagen.
Hyaluronic acid – a key compound called a glycosaminoglycan (GAG) which helps to maintain the viscosity of the joint fluid, to lubricate the cartilage and act as an additional shock absorber.
Amino acids – to provide the nutritional building blocks for the production of the amino sugars. The best known amino sugar is probably glucosamine, which is important as a subunit for the production of other compounds called glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) which then bind to the collagen framework in the cartilage, to help give it greater strength and elasticity.
MSM – provides a natural, bioavailable form of sulphur which is a key mineral for the bonding of compounds within the cartilage framework, to enhance strength, and also helps to maintain a normal inflammatory response.
Key trace minerals including manganese, silicon and copper – which all play important roles in the production of structural compounds such as chondroitin, as well as in the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid. These minerals also play key roles in the production of important antioxidants.
What are the benefits of Cortaflex® HA Regular Powder?

Equine Performance Electrolytes
Supplementing horses with electrolytes is vital to the health and welfare of the horse. A horse that develops sweat will need replacement of the salts lost in that sweat. The harder a horse is working, or the hotter the conditions – the greater the loss of salts and minerals.
The highest levels lost in sweat are sodium, chloride and potassium. Small amounts of calcium and magnesium are also expelled and smaller amounts of other trace minerals. These losses can result in the horse not being able to maintain the correct cellular fluid levels.
Imbalanced and low fluid levels can result in ineffective transmission of nerve impulses and also muscle contractions. Insufficient electrolytic levels will result in early fatigue and reduced stamina. In extreme cases a horse will lose the desire to drink water, thus compounding the detrimental effects on their health and more severe symptoms such as unco-ordinated movements, muscle weakness and sometimes trembling.
Vetpro has developed a specialist pH neutral electrolyte formulation with higher levels for horses in hard work such as racing and endurance and eventing. Or horses working in very hot conditions.
Vetpro Performance Electrolytes are a neutral pH composition. The idea of acid and alkaline electrolyte supplements is now regarded by equine physiologists to be unnecessary. Horses can develop a mild metabolic acidosis after intense exercise and may develop a metabolic alkalosis in situations of heavy sweat loss. In both these cases so long as there is sufficient chloride in the DEB then the horses kidneys will sort out its own acid/base balance.

THE BENEFITS OF MASSAGE FOR YOUR HORSE:
Massage has long been renowned for its beneficial properties. In fact, massage has been used for over 5,000 years across the world.
It is a preventive treatment. Our muscles and our horses’ muscles can get tight or restricted for a number of reasons.
If we then place demands on the tight muscle, the chances of injury are increased.
By massaging regularly, we can help prevent the build-up of tension in the muscles and hence reduce the likelihood of injury.
It improves suppleness and flexibility.
Regular massage helps to keep the muscles healthy, this will help to increase their effectiveness.
Healthy, relaxed muscles will allow your horse to be suppler and flexible, improving performance.
Equine Super Goo Natural Sunblock Cream
Natural Equine Sunblock
Equine Super Goo Natural Sunblock Cream for use on all pink skin areas on animals to moisturise and provide total sun protection.
A natural high quality zinc oxide sunblock powder.
Zinc oxide is widely used to treat a variety of skin conditions.
Zinc oxide protects against sunburn and other damage to the skin caused by ultraviolet light.
It has a very broad spectrum UVA and UVB reflector and is completely photo-stable.
It sits on the skin’s surface and is not absorbed into the skin, and blocks both UVA (320–400 nm) and UVB (280–320 nm) rays of ultraviolet light.
Because zinc oxide is not absorbed into the skin, it is non-irritating, non-allergenic, and non-comedogenic.
Our Zinc Oxide meets the strict requirements of the British Pharmacopeia.
It comes with a sponge in an organza bag. A small amount covers a large area and is long lasting – 24 hours minimum (unless washed off). Apply on any pink photosensitive skin. If you have skin that is already damaged by the sun, our Sunblock Cream has healing ingredients as well and maybe preferable.
