Used in Australia for many years, the EXCAL calf feeder features the well-proven EXCAL Fast-flow teat, with non-return valve in the back to help weak or new-born calves start suckling.

Calf Feeder Easy Feeder

Easy Feeder and Speedy Feeder are made by Shoof.

Easy Feeder is a single-speed nursing bottle and the Speedy Feeder is three-speed.

With Speedy Feeder when you get a real fast drinker, switch to ‘Fast’ and let him go for it.

When you have a weak premature-born calf, needing careful feeding, switch to ‘Stop’ or ‘Slow’ and let him take milk as he can cope without drowning.

The three speeds control the air inflow to the bottle, and thus the milk outflow.

Reduce time wasted on speedsters and prevent drowning weaklings, all using the same bottle and teat.

These feeders also feature intelligently designed bottle with multi-directional easy-grip hand hold.

The teat is mounted low in the cap to empty the bottle contents completely.

The wide 70mm-diameter neck ensures easier filling and cleaning, and the coarse-thread cap is quick and easy to fit.

Feed recommendations:

Feed 20% Museli ad lib from 0–49 days alongside whole milk or quality milk replacer.

From 50 days, calves should be consuming around 600 g and beginning the transition to SealesWinslow Calf Max 20% Pellets. 

Calves should be introduced gradually in the first week of life. SealesWinslow Calf Max 20% Museli to help form habits early.

Intake may be limited when feeding higher volumes of milk. 

Additional coccidiostat may be required in the milk until SealesWinslow Calf Max 20% Museli intake is sufficient to aid in the control of coccidiosis. 

Offer fresh SealesWinslow Calf Max 20% Museli daily. If fed in troughs, clean these out frequently. 

Ensure calves always have unlimited clean drinking water and restricted access to long fibre such as hay or straw. 

Wean calves off milk gradually at a minimum of 6 weeks of age and 65–85 kg depending on the calf size and breed. Continue to feed SealesWinslow calf feed for 1–2 months after weaning off milk.

Sodium is the main electrolyte found in the blood and the fluid surrounding cells. If sodium levels are low, the blood won't hold enough water. 

This causes the adrenal gland to release the hormone aldosterone, which tells the kidneys: "Don't let any sodium leave the body!" When the kidneys hold on to sodium, they excrete potassium in its place, creating an imbalance. Inadequate sodium intake can promote or aggravate conditions such as anhydrosis (lack of or inadequate sweating), tying up (a muscular disorder resulting in stiff and/or trembling muscles after exertion) and a rapid heart rate.  

It can also influence the horse to avoid drinking water as the body seeks to keep from flushing away sodium. (And inadequate water consumption is always a risk factor for impaction colic).
